FAQ
What if my child doesn't enjoy all elements of the Theatre Branch classes?
We offer a trial to all new students so that they can try Drama, Dance and Singing and what’s even better is it is HALF PRICE at only £15.50. If they decide it’s not for them then you are under no obligation to stay.
What happens if my child doesn’t know anyone?
Are you classes just for girls?
We welcome both boys and girls and have lots of boys who love our classes. We encourage everyone to try everything and urge them all that if they are not happy in a subject that they talk to us so that we can help to resolve any issues. It’s great if they can bring a friend along to take the trial with them.
I don’t know what my child should wear?
You will be advised what to wear once we know which class you would like to trial. Once you have signed up to our classes we do have a uniform of an OSPA t-shirt, black bottoms and black jazz shoes for our Saturday classes and leotard and bottoms for our Dance Branch classes. There will be a merchandise form that comes in you end of trial pack where you can purchase t-shirts, hoodies and much more!
Does my child have to take exams?
There is no pressure to take any exams but the majority of our students do as they provide a goal and reward for all of their hard work. Your teacher will advise you when your child is ready for any exams.
Why are the Theatre Branch classes 3 hours?
3 hours can seem like a long time, especially if your little one is just starting school but we give the students plenty of breaks for a drink, snack and the toilet. In our Group 1 class which has our youngest students, the pace is often slower so that they don’t get too tired. The students that start young really benefit in the long term and we see huge progression. The trial is a great time to see how they get on and if it is too much then maybe they could try again in a term or so?
What if my child doesn’t like Singing/Dancing/Acting
Our mission it to help create well rounded performers for the wider world which is why we offer all 3 disciplines at our Theatre Branches and seperate dance classes at our Dance Branch. We find that even those that don’t want to go into the performing world as a career gain so much from our classes; confidence, creativity, perseverance, resilience and team work to name but a few. If it’s not for them after the trial then we do understand.
Do I need to attend every class?
Your child does need to attend every class as we have so many exciting things to teach in all classes them that when they miss a lesson then it makes it hard to catch up and we don’t want any of our students to feel out of place or that they’re not sure what is going on. Any time off for illness must be communicated with your teacher so that we can make sure that in the next lesson anything missed is recapped.
What happens if my child can’t sing?
Not all children can to start off with and this isn’t an issue. We are here to help and guide them to becoming confident in all 3 genres and by learning the technique and exercises they will become a stronger singer as they grow with us.
What age do you take students from?
We have classes from 4 years old right up to adults so anyone is welcome.
